K.E. When you first introduce someone to Ben Lamdin's back catalogue, the first question is always: "That's all the same guy?".
It's hard to fathom how someone can produce such well-composed, modern Jazz, without ignoring traditional influences. This album shines throughout with elements of hard-bop, funk, modern Jazz - it even has that "London" feel to it on certain tracks.
Combined with the fact that Ben produces AND records Jazz & Folk music (equally well), this LP is a must-buy.
Favorite track: Beautiful Lie.

john greenwood This is absolutely fantastic music. Great arrangements, composition and delivered with grace and style. I can listen for hours. I'm in love all over again with great new jazz music. Ben Lamdin is a gifted genius who shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Josa Peit can sing to me anytime as well, a gifted singer, she definitely benefits from Ben's experience producing. This album raised the bar. Favorite track: Simmerdown.

about

‘The Sleepwalking Society’ comes almost four years after ‘Everything Under The Sun’ - the last Nostalgia 77 proper studio album – in which time Benedic Lamdin has been busy as producer, engineer, musician and more on projects involving Keith and Julie Tippett, Jeb Loy Nichols, Lizzy Parks, Larry Stabbins, Alice Russell, Sara Mitra, Fringe Magnetic, Golden Age of Steam and his own Octet. Nostalgia 77’s fervent fanbase has been clamouring for his return and can now rest assured that it has been worth the wait, as the spoils of those extra-curricular excursions inform a refreshed stylistic palette and intensity on the new LP.
